1986 YAMAHA 540 XL-V 2 up snowmobile. Twin cylinder, reeded motor, single carb, oil injected motor with ELECTRIC START. This was a barn find in MICHIGAN. When I got her home, I cleaned the mouse nest out of cooling fins, cleaned carb, checked fuel line, drained tank, put fresh gas in her and she fired right up! STARTS easily with pull or ELECTRIC START, IDLES SMOOTHLY, and has that distinct sound and power band that the 540 is so famous for. Seat wood was rotten, so took to my seat guy and he put a PLASTIC seat pan on her and restapled seat. Put new battery in her. HOOD was cracked from hood wire breaking, so I stitched it up with ties. Sled has not been wrecked and has the original FREAKISHLY TALL pinkish windshield [ windshield trim was gone, but will be replaced by sale]. Ski wear bars needed replaced, so I will install 4 inch carbides before sale. Sled has sat outside and has some seat fade and hood shine fade.
